Machinery description

CONTINUOUS SPIRAL COOLER
“Twist Air Cooler”

Composed of:

· 
Conveyor Group
· Conveyor drive group 
A central drum drives the flexible belt by means of dynamic friction. The drum is made of stainless steel profiles in cylindrical shape ideal to guide/convey the airflow, and is mounted on special roller bearings enclosed in a stainless steel water-tight case. The drum itself is driven by speed reducer directly coupled with the drum. An auxiliary belt-tensioning drive is mounted on the belt discharging end. 
· Spiral supporting structure
Composed of stainless steel columns, beams, and conveyor guides. An HDPE plastic lining is mounted on the conveyor guides.
· Plastic flexible belt
Composed with modular belt type food grade in INTRALOX Material.
The belt allows for good product support and high air cross-flow.
· Belt tensioning group
Equipped with adjustable counterweights to cope with length variations of the belt due to temperature.
· Cooling Group
·    Evaporators

Copper pipes and aluminium flat fins type complete of supporting frame. Execution design for “water free flow”.
·    Electric fans
Axial type directly coupled with electric motors, clock wise and counter clock wise.
 
 
·    Insulated cabin
·    Hygienic Insulated Hermetic Cabin Design made in sandwich panels with rounded/bended corners. are all corners with the following characteristics:
POLYURETHANE FOAM WITH A FORMULA IN DEFENCE OF THE STRATOSPHERICAL OZONE
The insulating foam we are usingallows to obtain products with the following characteristics:
-         Average density      42 Kg/m3
-         Thermal conductivity           0,021 W/m°K
-         Resistance to fire of the standard panel:
·          Class 2 (referred to the specifications of Standards CSE-RF and ASTM D 1692/74)
·          Class B2 (referred to Standard DIN 4102)
-         Adhesion of the foam to the sheets   Good
-         Dimensional stability            Good
-         Mechanical resistance of the foam    Good
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PREPAINTED GALVANIZED STEEL

·          Brightness (AICC no. 7): 40±5 Gloss measured by a glossimeter Gardener angle 80° (ASTM-D-532).
 
·          Saline fog (AICC no. 22) (ASTM-B-117): 400 h. After this time slight isolated Blistering not higher than degree 8 ASTM-D-714; penetration of cross cut max. 2 mm. per side.
·          Resistance to humidity (ASTM-D-2247): 1000 h. A slight change in the colour, a slight softening and possible light Blistering could take place (in any case not higher than degree 8 ASTM-D-714).
·          Flexibility (AICC n.12):        Traction 2-3 T
                                   Flaw 3-4 T
·          Artificial ageing Q.U.V.Tester: 500 h.
No cracks, flaws or peeling on the paint film should take place. A light decolouration and chalking are admitted.
 
 
·    Control Board complete with inverter.
 
 
Working Principle
 
The TWIST AIR COOLER cooler is basically composed by a spiral conveyor and a cooling system which provides a well distributed cold air-flow in the insulated cabin where the spiral conveyor is placed.
 
In order to obtain the quickest cooling process TWIST AIR COOLER is designed for high speed circulation (4 -10 m/sec) of cold air in contact with the product, on the whole length of the spiral conveyor.
 
High speed of air increases substantially:
Ø        the thermal exchange on the surface of the product,
Ø        the speed of cold penetration
Ø        the quality of the freezing process.
 
The air-flow pattern used in this proposal is

Ø        Hitting the incoming product with the coldest air;
Ø        The unit doesn’t have any mezzanine floor and or intermediary platform, to avoid any dirtiness accumulation, and making more difficult the cleaning operations;
Ø        Drum is without lateral openings to improve the air guidance and to minimize the possibility to accumulate dirtiness, in point where easy access is not possible;
Ø        The lateral aprons to guide the airflow on the opposite side of the evaporators are on easy access design like door openable or sliding, but in any case easy acces is granted all around
Ø        Possibility to have bi-directional air flow and speed on the product, just adjusting the by-pass and the fans
 
TWIST AIR COOLERis equipped with ONE ventilation system:
Ø        1st “Primary” ventilation circulates air through evaporators and product. This fan provide the enthalpy required for product cooling, have higher head and higher energy consumption.
